The journalistic prize is named after Anne Vondeling (1916-1979), who was a member of parliament on behalf of the PvdA for thirty years. Vondeling, who was twice a minister and Vice-President of the European Parliament, championed the use of clear language by politicians throughout his career. Last year the prize went to political journalist Marc Chavannes.
The Saskia Stuiveling Prize for regional and local political journalism went to Gep Leeflang of the daily newspaper the Stentor† With the prize, the jury wants to “express its appreciation for the fearless and tenacious way in which Leeflang managed to capture the questionable administrative culture in the municipality of Epe in all its facets in countless articles for months. The jury considers that he often worked alone and defied the opposition of the municipality of Epe as an extra merit”.
