Andrew Wiggins hopes to continue playing with the American basketball team Golden State Warriors, and continue to “prove his skeptics wrong.”
Wiggins played an important role in crowning the Warriors with the NBA title this season, after defeating the Boston Celtics in a series of matches that took place between them in the championship final.
The Warriors won their fourth title in the last eight seasons, but it was the first title for Wiggins, who joined the team in February 2020, coming from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Wiggins has faced many questions in his MLS career so far, but he answered many of them against the Celtics.
Wiggins played the most number of minutes among the Warriors players in the final series against the Celtics, with a total of 235 minutes, as he made the largest number of follow-ups (53 rebounds), in addition to the most number of saves, which amounted to 9, and also had an effective impact on defensive capabilities. for the team.
At the offensive level, Wiggins provided the second highest scoring rate after his colleague Stephen Curry, the final series scorer, with an average of 3.18 points per game, and his correct shots accuracy reached 6.44 percent.
Wiggins said: “There was a lot of talk, people had something to say about every little thing, but now I’m glad I did it here.
Wiggins added: “People didn’t think I could be in that position or even be useful in the team that won the title. But I have proven the skeptics wrong, and I will continue to do so.
Wiggins is looking forward to continuing his career with the Warriors, after he has been linked with leaving the team since his arrival nearly two years ago.
“I would love to stay here,” said the player, who will receive $6.33 million next year, before becoming a free agent.
“Being here is a priority for me,” Wiggins explained. The way they treat the players… We are all one big family. I feel like a lot of places would say that, but the Warriors show it through their actions.
