Among the funniest moments in the Peruvian series, there is one that has Doña Nelly’s favorite ballad in the background. What is the story behind the theme?
Throughout the 10 seasons of “At the bottom there is room”, the Peruvian series has had more than one key moment. With rating peaks for scenes like the return of Luchito, or the death of Peter, there are sequences that are key in the fiction and have Doña Nelly as the protagonist. Despite the time, fans cannot forget the time she sang “And she was called Charly.”
This song appears for the first time in season 2 of “Al fondo hay sitio”. It took on greater prominence in chapter 64 of said cycle, when Nicolás finds Doña Nelly naked in the bathroom. “This is not done to a married woman!” Shouts the head of the Gonzáles at the young man’s fright.
Nicolás was shocked when he saw Doña Nelly without clothes
In that episode, Mrs. Nelly is about to take a bath, but before that, she decides to sing “Y se llamada Charly”. What she didn’t imagine was that Nicolás was going to enter the bathroom and see her naked. From here, chaos added to the series and the Gonzáles asked for the head of Grace’s boyfriend.
The story behind “And his name was Charly”
The ballad is actually called “Charly” and is a song performed by the seventies group Santabárbara. In 2012, the bassist and author of the song, Enric Millán, told the portal La nueva España that, as always said, the lyrics were inspired by a wounded dove.
“Between Paseo de Gracia and Aragón in Barcelona I found the pigeon. I was in a taxi and I couldn’t open the door because it was locked. I suppose the cars ran over it. I helped her. That shocked me and when I arrived I wrote the lyrics at home”, he commented that time.
