The Murcian racer Ana Carrasco (Yamaha) was proclaimed this Sunday at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit in Jerez as the winner of the first Women’s World Motorcycle Championship, after finishing third in the second race of the last scoring event of the World Superbike.
Carrasco finished the World Cup competition with 244 points, compared to the 225 of the second classified, the also Spanish María Herrera (Yamaha), who won race 1 on Saturday and this Sunday finished sixth. Race 2 of the weekend was won by Sara Sánchez from Barcelona and second was Beatriz Neila.
This is the second World Championship for Ana Carrasco, who already won the Supersport 300 World Championship in mixed competition in 2018. The Murcian woman also made headlines in the past for participating in the men’s World Championship. She competed in the Moto3 category for five seasons (2013, 2014, 2015 and 2022) and in her first year she became the first woman to score points.
His career also had a serious setback when in 2020 he suffered a fracture in two vertebrae after a hard fall. Now, four years later, he returns to savor the friendly side of motorcycling.
