Those affected have been relocated to plants dedicated to treating and roommates quarantined
The Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology services of the Reina Sofía hospital in Murcia are studying an outbreak of coronavirus located on the fourth floor – right and left – with 18 infected patients, according to the Ministry of Health this Thursday.
The origin of the outbreak is still being investigated and a screening will be carried out among the center’s staff to determine if there are infections between professionals. Patients have been relocated to Covid plants and roommates quarantined.
Due to the outbreak and the corresponding quarantines and isolations, a fourth Covid plant has been opened in the Hospital (4th, 5th, 6th and 7th right floors), as well as the habilitation of other units such as the Rehabilitation gym, in case the admission of non-Covid patients or their use as a non-Covid Pre-Admission Unit is necessary.
The Murcian Health Service, given the high transmission rate of the new variant Ómicron of Covid-19, and with the aim of avoiding contagion from hospitalized people, recommends limiting the monitoring of patients and advises that only the persons admitted in those cases in which it is necessary due to their situation. Also remember that currently visits to hospitals are not allowed.
