Juan Jesús González Alemán is a Doctor in Physics and Senior State Meteorologist. He is also the researcher from the State Meteorological Agency who five days ago warned, with a message in X, of the dangerous potential of DANA that has left at least 70 fatalities as it passed through the Peninsula. However, its success has not prevented it from being ridiculed by numerous users since the publication of the message.
“If everything continues as predicted by the meteorological models during the next 5 days, this DANA, due to its characteristics and behavior, has a lot of potential to enter the group of high impact ones. “One of those that can be remembered on the Mediterranean side,” González Alemán wrote in his X account. The message was accompanied by a graph prepared on October 25 that showed the location of the storm at that time.
“But is it going to rain or not? In Córdoba, always the same lots of data and alerts and then nothing,” one of the users responded to González Alemán. “We are all going to die, save yourself who can. Now seriously, I’m fed up with reading DANA for all my fucking life, cold blood,” said another. Some of the first responses described the expert’s message as “Apocalyptic, come on…. Jjjj”, while another mocked its seriousness: We will see if it exceeds all Expectations and becomes something EXTREME, brutal, monstrous, wild and Unmatched.
After knowing the impact that DANA has had in the Valencian Community, where it has left at least 70 dead and countless material damage due to the floods, users have once again turned to González Alemán’s message to thank him for his work and criticize the denialist statements about the consequences of climate change.
“Thank you for letting us know. To the comments laughing at the work of experts and scientists, just remind them that, at the moment, there are 51 dead people (including four children)”, this user wrote, while another profile warned that “now is when the alarmists” “, “climate story” you should delete comments, if you have any modesty” or they lamented that no one paid “any damn attention” to the expert’s warning.
Others have even made jokes about how badly some of the messages published against the AEMET expert have ‘aged’. “I come to see if the “enlightened ones” and those of “Orwellian control, they are not going to prohibit us from going out” have already deleted their messages after making a fool of themselves,” a user wrote this Wednesday. “I came to see the comments of the “experts”…, answered another.
