The accused of the death of a man, whom he hit in the head with a cane in a nursing home in Belmonte de Miranda, admitted the accusations this Thursday attributed to him by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Principality of Asturias and the private prosecution. In agreement with all parties, he accepted the sentence of one year in prison and the payment of compensation of 18,000 euros to the victim’s brother.
The oral hearing was scheduled this Thursday in Criminal Court number 1 of Oviedo. He was transferred to the Central University Hospital of Asturias, where he died on May 6, 2020 as a result of hemorrhage. The pathological state and treatment with anticoagulants acted as a favorable element for the hemorrhage to have fatal consequences and, without this prior cause, most likely the consequences of the attack would have been minor.
After acknowledging the facts, the accused accepted a sentence of one year in prison and special disqualification from the right to vote during the time of the sentence. In terms of civil liability, the accused will compensate the brother of the deceased with 18,000 eurosof which you have already paid a part.
