A couple of years ago, Uncharted creator Amy Hennig presented us with a new vision for Star Wars. However, this project was canceled and everything seemed to indicate that the legendary developer would move away from this series. Fortunately, this has changed today, as a new title starwars by Henning has been announced.
Skydance New Media, a studio co-created by Henning, is in charge of this project, which is described as a “richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story.” This was what the developer mentioned about it:
“I have often described how watching Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, indelibly shaping my creative life and future. I am thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”
Although the original conception of Skydance New Media seemed to indicate that the study was going to concentrate mainly on transmedia content for streaming services, the last two announcements of this team have focused on games. Remember that last year, this team revealed a Marvel title which will give great weight to the narrative.
In this way, the following work of Skydance New Media joins projects such as Star Wars: Eclipse by Quantic Dreams, the open world game from Ubisoft Montreal, and the three titles in the series that are still in the hands of EA. Unfortunately, there is no substantial information yet on the title by Amy Hennig. There is no name, release date or platforms.
On related topics, Star Wars Visions could be getting a second season. Similarly, Kingdom Hearts IV would have a Star Wars world.
Editor’s Note:
Amy Hennig knows perfectly how to make action games with a narrative approach. In this way, I am very excited about this project. While it seems like many years yet to see this title in our hands, at least I know the series is in the right hands.
