Mexico.- As part of a strategy to reduce the migratory flow of citizens of Haiti, The government of Mexico headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will finance the social programs “Sowing Life in the island country.
This was announced by the owner of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (Amerxcid), Laura Elena Carrillo Cubillas who announced that Haiti will be the first Caribbean country in receiving the benefit.
During the meeting that was convened by the government of Canada, the current problems of the Republic of Haiti were exposed, in this meeting the prime ministers of Haiti, Ariel Henry and Canada, Justin Trudeau.
In her participation, the Mexican representative Carrillo Cubillas, presented the country’s vision on the support that could be provided to Haiti in the current context.
“The international community should not be interventionist, but support Haitians who choose their own future. Mexico advocates a democratic solution in which the Haitian people decide their political future,” mentioned.
The official recognized that the Haitian people need security conditions that must be reinforced by the international community, but this must be done through social programs and not through the use of force.
In this sense, Laura Elena Carrillo Cubillas presented the plan of the Mexican government to extend the program “Sowing Life” to Haiti. Which in its first stage will seek to integrate 5 thousand citizens.
In addition to the expansion of “Sembrando Vida”, the head of Amexcid indicated that Mexico will provide support to the Haitian National Police. The foregoing will be carried out through training programs on combating organized crime, particularly anti-gang strategies, as well as community strengthening and building trust in the population.
Lastly, Laura Elena Carrillo highlighted the role of Mexico in the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Haiti and recognized the leadership of the Government of Canada in summoning the international community to address the circumstances.
The Government of Mexico reiterates its willingness, with respect for the sovereignty of the Haitian people, to continue promoting international cooperation for development and joins the call for international solidarity with the sister Republic of Haiti.

He added that these actions are joined by those carried out last August where Mexico sent 2 thousand tons of food, medicine and other supplies, as well as the deployment of more than 30 medical brigades.
