AMD Ryzen 8000G, new APUs announced with Zen 4 and RDNA 3: prices and specifications

AMD announced the line Ryzen 8000Gthe new APUs with Zen 4 and RDNA 3 compatible with any AM5 motherboard on the market: the models are Ryzen 7 8700G, Ryzen 5 8600G, Ryzen 5 8500G and Ryzen 3 8300G.

AMD Ryzen 7 8700G, available at a price of $329, is equipped with 8 cores, 16 threads, 16 MB of L3 cache and 8 MB of L2 cache, a base frequency of 4.2 GHz and boost up to 5.1 GHz, as well as a TDP of 65W. The chip features a Radeon 780M iGPU with 12 2900 MHz compute units, the highest speed ever achieved by an RDNA 3 integrated system.

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, available at the price of 229 dollars, is instead a 6-core and 12-thread APU, with 16 MB of L3 cache and 6 MB of L2 cache, a base frequency of 4.3 GHz and boost up to 5 GHz, while the TDP it is also equal to 65W here. The graphics unit is a Radeon 760M iGPU with 8 compute units and a frequency of 2800 MHz.

AMD Ryzen 8500Gavailable at a price of $179, is a 6-core, 12-thread chip with a hybrid configuration: two Zen 4 cores and four Zen 4C cores with a base frequency of 3.5 GHz and a boost of up to 5 GHz. The total cache is equal to 22 MB, while the GPU is a Radeon 740M with 4 compute units and clocked at 2700 MHz.

Finally there is theAMD Ryzen 3 8300G For OEM systems only, a 4-core, 8-thread chip with one Zen 4 core and three Zen 4C cores, 12 MB total cache, 3.4 GHz base frequency, and up to 4.9 GHz boost. The TDP is equal to 65W and the iGPU is a Radeon 740M,

The two AMD Ryzen 8700G and 8600G APUs are equipped with the same XDNA Ryzen AI NPU as the Ryzen 8040 series, with a clock of 1.6 GHz and a combined AI processing power of 39 TOPS, of which 16 TOPS come directly from the NPU: a 60% increase over the Ryzen 7040's NPU, which offered 10 TOPS.

When it comes to gaming performance, AMD claims a four-fold increase over Intel's iGPU solutions offered on its UHD 770 graphics chips found in 14th/13th generation desktop CPUs.
