During the pre-Computex event, AMD revealed its new 9000 series, which will be launched on the market starting from July 2024.
AMD has made a very important announcement regarding desktop processors, unveiling its highly anticipated 9000 series, destined to redefining performance for gaming and content creation. This new generation promises to be the most powerful yet, marking an impressive evolution in desktop computing capabilities and is based on the Zen 5 architecture.
Technological Innovations and Superior Performance
AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series not only enjoy a simple increase in power compared to previous generations, but represent a real generational leap. Benchmark tests shared during the presentation revealed significant improvements in several key aspects. These include improved throughput in pipelines and vectors, double the instruction and data handling capacity compared to the previous generation, and significantly improved AI performance.
In particular, AMD revealed that the new series will offer double the instruction bandwidth and data bandwidth between the L2 cache and the L1 cache, and between the L1 and the floating point (FP) unit compared to previous models. These improvements are accompanied by a 16% increase in IPC performance (Instructions Per Cycle), a crucial indicator of a processor’s efficiency.
All Ryzen 9000 processors
The 9000 Series consists of four distinct models, designed to meet a wide range of needs and budgets. Models include:
Ryzen 9 9950X
- 16 Cores and 32 Threads
- up to 5.7 GHz
- 80 MB cache
- 170W TDP
Ryzen 9 9900X
- 12 Cores and 24 Threads
- up to 5.6 GHz
- 76 MB cache
- 120W TDP
Ryzen 7 9700X
- 8 Cores and 16 Threads
- up to 5.5 GHz
- 40 MB cache
- 65W TDP
Ryzen 5 9600X
- 6 Cores and 12 Threads
- up to 5.4 GHz
- 38 MB cache
- 65W TDP
These processors are designed to offer scalable solutionsfrom the high-end Ryzen 9, ideal for the most demanding content creators and gamers, up to the more accessible Ryzen 5, perfect for those looking for high performance without compromising the budget.
Breakthrough performance and release period
Taking a closer look at the Ryzen 9 9950X, exceptional features emerge. This top of the range model boasts the double the PCIe Gen 5.0 bandwidth compared to the previous generation, as well as 20% higher AI performance than its direct competitor, the Intel i9-14900K. These features make it an ideal choice for those who need an extremely powerful device for video editing, extreme level gaming and complex simulations.
The 9000 series of AMD will be available starting July 2024, promising to be a game changer in the processor industry. With its unprecedented performance and innovative technological features, AMD aims to position itself not only as a leader in the field of desktop processors, but also as a pioneer in the future of computing technology. At the moment the launch prices are not yet known and all the CPUs that will use the 3D V-Cache, i.e. the processors of the X3D line, are clearly missing. As per tradition, AMD will dilute the Zen 5 lineup over the next few months.
The announcements obviously didn’t stop there, but also concern the future of AM5, the new motherboard chipsets, the new 5000 series processors and the 300 series AI processors.
