As was announced some time ago, Amazon Prime Video from today, January 29, 2024exhibition of advertising while playing videos, with the need to pay to remove themthrough a sort of fee that is added to the standard subscription.
The initiative, officially announced last month, currently concerns United Statesbut the change will also be implemented subsequently in the United Kingdom, Canada and Germany in early 2024, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia later in the year.
Therefore, it is only a matter of a few months before the news arrives in our area too. According to the company, Prime Video will run limited, time-based ads online, “significantly fewer ads than traditional television and other TV streaming providers,” in Amazon's words.
The first testimonies
Based on the first testimonies, it seems that the interruptions are going 2 to 3.5 minutes of advertising every hour of video playback, but we are awaiting further findings on American subscriptions, where the price required to eliminate these intrusions is 3 dollars per month.
This means that in addition to the standard price of Amazon Prime membership, i.e. 15 dollars a month or 140 dollars a year, there will also be other $3 a month to add to avoid having ads. In Italy the prices are significantly lower, i.e. 49.90 euros per year, so it is likely that the cost of removing advertising is also different, but we await further information on this matter.
Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Gaming has revealed the free games for January.
