Álvaro Negredo: “We must be patient with pepper, perhaps we have maccostrated the Sevillists”

-He announced his retirement a few weeks ago and now he is here in Seville learning to be a coach. Did the road always be clear?

-No, the truth that was in recent years more than anything. I liked the idea a little more. In the end, also when you are playing less, you are on the bench more time, you see things. And it is true that three years ago here I began to like the idea. I decided to finish the football race and not mix it. I have colleagues who are playing, the titles begin to take out, but I wanted to finish. I wanted to work on a topic and start another. Now, while I get the degree, here I am learning. Because in the end there is also a long way to go.

-Why? Seville?

-The end, it is a club that I have a lot of love. The city where I have installed after my retirement and where I live. I must also thank, because I have opened the doors of the club for it and, above all, to the technical bodies for also being part of them. It also gives the chance that I retire and my son begins to play here in Sevilla. I am comfortable in the city, I am happy, I am installed. And above all, I have good friendship with a lot of people from here. And I have opened that little girl to form. In the end, it changes a lot from being a player to be a coach. And now you have the responsibility of the whole group.

-Do you find that your best stage was in Sevilla to decide to settle here?

-Yeah. In the end many of mine has also happened to them, it is the place where they have been better, where they have lived the most happy. That stage of mine has been very good here and I wanted to return. Already when I played in Cádiz, which caught us close, we came every two by three to Seville, because it is a city that we love. And for a while we have already decided to come here, when I finished the race, because I am enjoying mine now here, my son in the afternoons and the city that falls in love.

-How does your footballer’s son be overwhelmed?

-Now I am enjoying it a lot. Before when I was active, so to speak, I missed many games. Now I don’t miss one. I’m going to see it, I’m going to enjoy it. And I think that in that sense I have won quality time with the family.

-Do you give you any advice?

-We see, we talk a lot, but it is true that parents have to let the coach work. I will not get into the coach’s work. I can play with him at home, I can give him some advice, but at the level of what his coach asks, I don’t want to put myself either.

-And what kind of coach do you want to be?

-Depens the team you have. You can have an idea and try if it works, but if you have to have a plan b. I like players to carry the initiative, that they are brave in decision making. And, well, as I tell you, I can change your mind when I know this function more, but in principle I want that.

-Do you have a reference?

-Yeah. The one that has marked me the most, and not only at the football level, has been Unai Emery. He is a Top coach. I have had two stages with him, both in Almería and in Seville, he has squeezed me the most. The one who has taken the most. I have also answered him in the field, but that stage with him has always been wonderful.

-Is it still in the Aston Villa?

-Yes, I follow him. Both in Europe and the Premier, but he was already making a career before being there. He is a madman of this and loves. As I know, I know what kind of coach it is and what will you keep wanting more and more ..

-What is the most of your footballer stage most?

-Well, what I am already starting to miss that day to day. Going to the locker room, being with colleagues, training. The trips not so much, because in the end I get tired. Now you have to enjoy otherwise, to come here, to be with the coaching staff. For me it is also like that he has not left me much to think and give me the low. I have replaced it well and I have faced it in this way and the truth is that now I am happy too.

-Alguna Espinita stuck?

-Yes, it is true, I was in a prelist for the 2010 World Cup and in the end I could not be. I saw him so close, that although he had not played a minute, being there … having enjoyed it, having lived that moment. For me, that is the thorn, although I could take it with the Eurocup. But that World Cup would have been pretty. It would have been milk, really.

-Your withdrawal has coincided with that of Jesús Navas. Has he talked about this?

-We have not spoken. I don’t like to climb the first team area. I respect the players a lot, to the coaching staff … It is clear that I want to see him, I was in his farewell. He could not be in mine, but he sent a messenger. The truth is that it has been five years with him and in the City … a lot of time in the National Team, many trips. I have enjoyed that wonderful person who is Jesus, that child, who in the end will always be the child. The road he has made is to admire. Until the last day playing, until the last day he has had that luck. In my last stage I have not played so much, and he has been here a benchmark, with an injury that I have similar and that has marked us a little that race.

-He is less clear than you your future. Where would I see it?

-It should be on many sides. It is a player where wherever he goes it will be recognized, he will be loved, then the club can also use it. It is true that you also have to see what he really wants, if he wants to be in offices, if he would like to be the option of being, or he does not like this, he has tired. -How do you see pepper?

-Pimient is a coach with a lot of experience. He does not have that player profile for his way of playing, for example, in Las Palmas, and he has had to renew, to put it in some way. Seville has a wide template in which other players could play, but he is betting on it. -How is a derby prepared?

-They are the parties in which mental preparation is missing. You go to the street and you are already prepared. The coach will have to talk very little because people, the city, which surrounds this, already prepares you for that game. Then, the one that is best, will be the one to take the game. -The Betis is a favorite.

-It can have a better mood, it also has more matches of matches. The derbies have to play, anything can happen because when the season for one is better, the other can beat you perfectly. -Would you like to train Seville?
