Three races without points
The disadvantage of the remains at -3Alpine from Williams in the Constructors’ standings, with the French team second to last in the world championship standings and once again outside the points zone in the last GP of SingaporeA top ten finish that has been missing since the Dutch GP, an event in which Gasly managed to finish in ninth place.
Speed is missing
For #10 the race in Marina Bay, very tough also from a physical point of view, ended practically without any satisfaction and with a 17th place final that interrupted a good series of results achieved by the Frenchman over the last few years right here in Singapore: “In the end it was a very difficult and frustrating race for us – he admitted – At the moment we are not fast and competitive enough. The lack of pace forced us to try some different strategies in the hope of improving our final result. We were on the Mediums for a long time in the first stint and lost a lot of time compared to the cars we were facing at the start. The plan was then to disturb some cars behind, in the hope of helping Esteban to get something out of the race. The reality is that three races ago we were ninth and in the last three races we have been far from the top ten. We need to find some performance and there is a lot of work to do to improve our current level. I am looking forward to a short break before Austin, where we will all have to be determined to get back to form.”
Insufficient pace
A lack of rhythm of the A524 also highlighted by Esteban Oconfurther ahead in the standings than his teammate but still outside the points zone, more precisely in 13th position: “We had a good start, gaining some positions from the finish, but We didn’t have the pace to fight for points and we weren’t able to keep up with the train of cars in front of us – confirmed the future Haas driver – We made the most of what we had, but without great opportunities to capitalise on we couldn’t move forward. We’ve got a nice break ahead of us, during which I’m sure we’re all keen to get some time back before we enter the final months of the season. We need to keep working hard, aiming to get more out of the package and be in a position where we can maximise everything we have in our hands.”
