Every time there is a greater variety of platforms to see other productions of video on demand. This Wednesday 16, the executives of the Group Televisa Y Univision announced that, from March 31the alliance between both television houses will put on the market ViX, its own streaming service to watch series, movies, soap operas and also soccer matches.
With the aim of reaching 100 million users in Mexico, U.S and 19 countries in Latin America, this association plans to welcome ViX+extension of the service that will arrive in December 2022 to offer original productions along with exclusive broadcasts of world football.
During the event, Wade Davis, CEO of TelevisaUnivision, stated that ViX will be a fundamental product for the Spanish-speaking public, with Spanish as the most important attraction of its productions. In addition, Pierluigi Gazzolo, another of the directors of the alliance, announced that the rate of the video-on-demand application will have an amount “much lower than what streaming platforms currently have in the world.”

What will be the programming of ViX?
ViX will not only display the main content of Televisa Y Univisionsuch as soap operas Marimar, Rebel Y my fortune is to love you. According to its directors, it will also have large Mexican films and channels with exclusive programs for its users. For example, this streaming service plans to launch a project produced by the Mexican actress Salma Hayek.
In the case of Videocine, a film affiliate belonging to Televisa, it will open its catalog with faces like that of the memorable Yalitza Aparicioan actress who starred in Roma, with a new production called Presencias, which will be available only for ViX+.
Another of the surprises is soccer, with the transmission of matches of the MX Leagueas well as original programs with content focused on the World Cup Qatar 2022.

How does the streaming video market look like?
In a market in which the offer of movies, series and other productions on video demand is wide, services such as Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max or Disney+ will not make it so easy for ViX. According to the consulting firm The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU), at the end of 2020, only in Mexico, Netflixone of the big ones that, together with its competition, has more than 200 million subscribers worldwide, had 76% of all users.
To this is added that the average monthly price registered among the most important platforms is 6.50 dollars, while Netflix has the highest cost with 13 dollars per month.
