A new generation of Alfisti is ready to welcome Alfa Romeo Milan. The new Biscione SUV has finally officially debuted in the shadow of the Madonnina, with the world premiere of this car so important for the Arese brand which took place right in the city that gives it its name and with which the brand has a indissoluble historical bond. The third high-wheeled model of the Stellantis car manufacturer, the first 100% electric, was born from the same team that designed the Giulia GTA. We saw the new Alfa Romeo Milano live, here's what the new compact SUV from Alfa Romeo looks like up close.
Design
Compact and sporty. These are the watchwords for presenting the new Alfa Romeo Milano that fills the gap the void left by the MiTo in the range of the Arese brand but which at the same time also winks at customers who have owned a Giulietta. The new Milan is 4.17 meters long and 1.78 meters wide. and 1.5 m high, thus maintaining those dynamic proportions described by the brand. It was born on the CMP platform, the former PSA architecture which was integrated into the Stellantis platforms and will be built in Tychy in Poland, on the same lines on which the “sisters” Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600 were also created. The front it is particularly expressive, with the grille featuring the Alfa Romeo logo moved to the bonnet and a new interpretation of the Trilobo defined as “Progresso” which the Biscione obtained by subtracting volumes. Alongside this, the subtle motifs of the adaptive full LED Matrix headlights are integrated, where the 3+3 scheme that was introduced again on the Alfa models with the arrival of the Tonale is revived. The C-shaped recess that converges towards the center starting from the light signature also integrates the daytime headlights in the lower part while the lower part of the bumper is crossed by a grille and two vertical air intakes. The overhangs are very limited, with two ribs that cross the side, one on the belt line and one in the lower part of the doors where there are some matte sports finishes. The overall appearance is muscular, with clean and taut lines thanks also to the shape of the bonnet and its ribs. The wheel arches embrace wheels with a specific design while at the rear we find a truncated tail that recalls that of the Giulia TZ.
Interiors of Alfa Romeo Milano
The sporting soul of Alfa Romeo Milano is also reflected in the stylistic choices made inside the passenger compartment, where the digital dashboard stands out. Behind the steering wheel we find the telescope motif for the dashboard it frames a 10.25″ TFT screen with different layouts. In the centre, however, oriented towards the driver, there is the touch screen for the infotainment system, a 10.25″ display which uses the widget system to guarantee maximum customisation: by dragging the icons it is possible to move the applications and the functions of the car to your liking by creating a tailor-made homepage. The dashboard is then embellished on both sides by the vents of the ventilation system with a four-leaf clover design, a symbol of the authentic sportiness of the Biscione. On the Alfa Romeo Milano, in the top of the range versions, we also find enveloping sports seats made specifically by Sabelt, with a specific design and integrated headrest and upholstery in Alcantara or vinyl and fabric for the Speciale. The impact of the passenger compartment it is that of a refined environment, with great attention to materials and oriented towards those behind the wheel, without however neglecting those sitting next to or behind it. The load capacity is one of the highest in the category, with 400 liters available in the boot for the electric version and the possibility of storing the charging cable in the front frunk.
On-board technologies
Wide the provision of safety and assistance systems driving the new Alfa Romeo Milano. ADAS include level 2 autonomous driving technology, with Adaptive Cruise Control, 180° rear camera and 360° perimeter sensors but also proximity access, for opening and closing the car without having to use keys. From a connectivity point of view, the integration of the Hey Alfa virtual assistant is available which works thanks to GPT chat artificial intelligence, allowing you to have a co-pilot available who can respond to the driver's needs. Thanks to EV Routing, it is possible to travel in electric mode with the Alfa Romeo Milano without having to worry about looking for charging infrastructure: the system will calculate the itinerary based on the stops necessary to fill up on energy, also adapting them to the driver's driving style. driver and route. Thanks to Alfa Connected Services, it is then possible to remotely manage the vehicle's charging status with E-Control, as well as control some functions such as unlocking the doors thanks to My Remote.
Alfa Romeo Milano engines and powertrain
For what concerns the engines, the new Alfa Romeo Milano will be available in an electric or hybrid version. Milano EV will have a powertrain based on an electric motor which, thanks to a specific calibration, offers high power and torque to maximize fun and driving dynamics. The unit is available in two power levels, 156 HP and 240 HP, both paired with the 54 kWh battery. In the first case the autonomy goes from 410 km of the mixed cycle to 590 km of the urban cycle. As regards charging, the new Alfa Romeo Milano is compatible with direct current infrastructures up to 100 kW to recover from 10 to 80% of the travel range in 30 minutes. It is also available a hybrid version, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive Q4. In this case the Alfa Romeo Milano is equipped with a 136 HP 1.2 three-cylinder Miller cycle engine with 48 Volt hybrid technology and variable geometry turbo (VGT). The thermal unit is therefore joined by a 48 Volt battery and a second 21 kW electric motor integrated into the six-speed dual clutch gearbox which works together with the inverter and the transmission control unit. According to what was stated by the Arese car manufacturer, Milano Ibrida will be able to offer over 50% of the mileage in the city in electric mode.
True Alfa driving dynamics
Important work was done by the Biscione technicians to guarantee the maximum in terms of driving dynamics. The new Alfa Romeo Milano was developed by the same team that worked on the Giulia GT, with specific tests in Balocco. The Arese brand thus promises the most direct steering in the segment and precision to improve road holding even at higher speeds. On the Veloce version, the suspension has been lowered by 25 mm, with a specific set up for the front and rear anti-roll bars optimizing corner entry. The braking system has 380 mm front discs with 4-piston monobloc calipers. High-performance 20″ tires were chosen for the electric version. As on the other Alfa Romeo models, the Alfa DNA system is also available on the Milano, with Dynamic, Natural and Advanced Efficiency modes, with an additional mode specific for low grip conditions designed for the Q4 all-wheel drive version.

Orders for the new Alfa Romeo Milano are already open, with the Special version which will be available with both a hybrid engine and an electric powertrain in a 156 HP configuration. From a stylistic point of view we find the reinterpretation of the “Progresso” shield, the matte sports finishes on the lower part of the doors and the new 18″ “Petali” alloy wheels. In the passenger compartment, however, there are new seats with electric controls and a massaging function for the driver and the “Spiga” finishes in vinyl and fabric.
