In the next few weeks Alfa Romeo Junior will arrive on the Italian market, with the Arese brand returning to the B segment with a compact and sporty but above all electric model, the first in the history of the Biscione. This small SUV will ideally take the place of the MiTo but also of the Giulietta, as repeatedly reiterated by Alfa Romeo’s top management. The CEO of the Stellantis car manufacturer, Jean-Philippe Learnato, returned to the topic of the Junior, reiterating what the objectives and expectations could be for this new model.
The objectives of Alfa Romeo Junior
In an interview given to Quattroruote, the French manager underlined the role that Alfa Romeo Junior will play in the future of the brand and also how the brand has no particular concerns regarding volumes: “It’s true that my job is to produce many cars, but when I see the fleet of Giuliettas and Mitos on the road, or I meet people who have been asking me for months ‘when can we see it?’, I realize that we have to do something Interesting. I don’t worry too much about volumes, but there is no doubt that in terms of brand value the Junior is a very important car for Alfa Romeo.”
Electric and hybrid
The new Alfa Romeo Junior EV is available with a powertrain equipped with an electric motor which, thanks to a specific calibration, offers high power and torque to maximize fun and driving dynamics. The unit is available in two power levels, 156 HP and 240 HP, both paired with the 54 kWh battery. In the first case the autonomy goes from 410 km of the mixed cycle to 590 km of the urban cycle. As regards charging, the new Alfa Romeo Milano is compatible with direct current infrastructures up to 100 kW to recover from 10 to 80% of the travel range in 30 minutes.
The customization packs
A series of packages are also available to further enrich the new Alfa Romeo Junior. The pack offer includes Techno and Premium. In the first case the focus is on technology and functionality, with level 2 autonomous driving systems, the electric tailgate with hands free, Matrix LED headlights and connected navigation with virtual assistant. The Premium pack, however, includes some distinctive elements such as a vinyl-fabric mix interior, electrically moved driver’s seat with massage function, interior ambient lighting and aluminum pedals and door sill plates. The new electric Alfa Romeo Junior will be available with a price starting from 39,500 euros.
