In home Alfa Romeo there is certainly no lack of originality, at least in the scheduling of the traditional events that each team organizes on the eve of a new Formula 1 season. Normally the teams have a fairly standardized plan, which first involves the official presentation of the car – or at least the livery , as done by Red Bull – then the various days of shakedown and filming days, used with the function of general rehearsals to verify the new car, and finally the participation in the ‘collective’ tests with the other teams. Virtually all teams have followed this program in broad terms, with the exception of the team from Hinwil.
The first images circulated on the web of the new C42 came from a shakedown organized in an almost ‘secret’ way in Fiorano, complete with camouflage livery. Then the Swiss team went to Barcelona, for the pre-season tests, always ‘wearing’ the camouflage color. The official presentation of the car has come only now, after the tests, with theunveil of what will be the actual livery used in the race by Bottas and Zhou. To conclude the approach stages in Bahrain, this morning is already taking place the filming day. The event is taking place once again on the Barcelona track and will perhaps help the team solve some of the problems that emerged during the three days of testing.

In fact, Alfa Romeo was among the teams most tormented by the ‘reliability issue’. The C42 completed just 175 on the Catalan circuit. Only Haas did worse, with 160. Not exactly the best way to go for a team that aspires to climb the rankings after an extremely difficult 2021. It will be up to the Biscione technicians to be able to reverse this trend, helping the new pair of drivers to battle for the mid-group positions.
