Ex-adviser of Zelensky's office Alexei Arestovich was arrested in absentia in Moscow
A Moscow court arrested in absentia ex-adviser to the office of the Ukrainian leader Alexei Arestovich (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring). Cases have been filed against him in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
Arestovich is accused of calling for terrorism and spreading fake news about the Russian army. The term of arrest is calculated from the moment of the actual detention of the politician on the territory of Russia or from the moment of his transfer to law enforcement agencies.
The former adviser, commenting on the arrest in absentia, published a post about the unity of states against the background of accusations against him.
Great Rus' has united forever: Belarus is a criminal case for terrorism. Russian Federation – for extremism. Ukraine – two for sexism. Where should a poor spy go? I'll try in Afghanistan. There they can give you an order for all this
Cases against Arestovich were opened in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine
In April 2022, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) opened a criminal case against the ex-adviser. According to the department, Arestovich, live on the TV channel, called on Ukrainians to commit especially serious crimes. In particular, murders motivated by political and national hatred.
In October 2023, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put Arestovich on the wanted list, and in May he was added to the Russian list of terrorists and extremists. The Ukrainian police also opened a criminal case against the ex-adviser; he was included in the list of the scandalous website “Peacemaker”.
In Belarus, a case was opened against Arestovich because of a video he published. In the video, the ex-adviser made public calls for terrorist attacks and sabotage at Belarusian Railway facilities, as well as other actions aimed at harming the national security of the republic.
Arestovich resigned from his post after criticism due to words about a downed missile
Arestovich resigned from the post of adviser to the office of the head of the republic in January 2023 after a statement that a residential building in the city of Dnepropetrovsk was destroyed by a missile shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems. Subsequently, he called his words a mistake.
In the Kremlin emphasizedthat Russia does not strike residential buildings, and the collapse of the house was the result of being hit by an air defense counter-missile.
