With the loss of Daniel Galán, the current number one male tennis racket in Colombia, the national team suffered an extremely sensitive loss for the Davis Cup that it will play next week against the United States.
Pushed by the emergency, captain Alejandro Falla summoned Alejandro González, number 447 in the ATP ranking, at the last minute.
The 33-year-old tennis player from Antioquia has not competed in high-level tournaments for a long time. However, Falla has known him for a long time and perhaps that influenced his call.
The Davis Cup series, between Colombia and the United States, on the qualifying road, will be played between March 4 and 5, in Reno, Nevada (USA).
