Albon's future: Williams or something else?
In the tourbillon market triggered by Lewis Hamilton's sensational move to Ferrari starting from 2025, Alex could also be involved Albon.
Williams team principal James Vowles reiterated that the Anglo-Thai has a contract until 2025 and took him off the market, but Albon himself admitted between the lines that there are some early exit clauses, and they are linked also to Williams' development in terms of speed and results.
Albon's words
“What if I will consider other destinations? Time will tell. For me it is very clear, especially when you look at the driver market, that there is a huge interest from the teams in wanting the same driver for 2025 and 2026. It seems that things are going like this, we will see what happens“.
“I would be lying if I said there were questions and general chatter about my future. But that's not even my field, my focus is driving. I am very curious to see how the FW46 develops and to understand the progress I hope we will have made at team level“, he continued. “I feel like I'm at my peak or very close to my peak – there are always improvements, but in general I feel I deserve a car that can get podiums and fight for victories“.
The hypothesis
With Ferrari having Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in the team at least until 2026, the hypothesis of an Albon in Maranello has become weaker. For the Anglo-Thai, provided he can free himself from Williams early, there remain inviting scenarios, such as Red Bull (but he wouldn't want to be second to Max Verstappen again), Mercedes and Aston Martin.
