The former secretary of the Organization of the purple formation assures that he will appeal to the European court and maintains his complaint against the president of Congress, Meritxell Batet, for prevarication
Alberto Rodríguez, deputy of Podemos to whom the president of the Lower House, Maritxell Batet, withdrew the act yesterday, has assured that he will take his innocence to the last European judicial institutions. Rodríguez has lost his seat after he was convicted by the Supreme Court, charged with trying him for being a gauge, after being accused of beating a policeman during a demonstration. After several days of discussion in Congress, Batet finally announced this Friday that he was ceasing to be a deputy, and hours later a lawsuit by Podemos against the president of Congress was announced.
A few hours later, both in Podemos and its partners began to remove iron from the matter. Alberto Garzón himself, general coordinator of the United Left and Minister of Consumption, assured that the complaint against the socialist Batet was personal. Rodríguez’s response was not long in coming, he assumes losing his deputy certificate, but will continue to fight for as long as necessary, he said. And this entails leaving Podemos, a party of which he was number three.
Rodríguez, whom Rajoy looked at in perplexity because of his dreadlocks the day he promised his position as a deputy in the lower house, has been a Podemos militant from the very beginning of the party. Thanks to him the purple formation has won a seat for Tenerife. Faithful to Pablo Iglesias in the ‘Errejonista’ split that crushed the party, he was elevated to the Organization Secretariat, a position in which he could not, like Pablo Echenique before, put order to the unruly territories of Podemos and its different sensibilities.
«I abandon party militancy and I abandon Podemos. I am deeply grateful for these years, which have been very intense with a lot of learning and receiving a lot of firewood, ”Rodríguez said goodbye, one of the last bastions that remained standing since Pablo Iglesias announced that he would storm the skies.
