Remedy Entertainment has shared some potentially unpleasant news regarding the physical edition of Alan Wake 2 recently announced.
The company has in fact confirmed that the entirety of the aforementioned title will not be a title but will be on disc and that, to access all the contents of the work, a download will be required.
This news may come as a surprise to some physical media fans, as they would most likely have expected a limited edition physical version of Alan Wake 2 to be fully offline installable.
Alan Wake 2 was launched inOctober 2023 and received extremely positive reception from fans and critics. Shortly before the title was released, Remedy announced that it would be released exclusively in digital shops.
Although Remedy has repeatedly defended this choice, claiming that it would have given the company more time to work on the game without additional patches, several supporters of the physical support had not welcomed this news.
Fortunately, the team finally listened to the players’ request and announced the physical release of Alan Wake 2 during the Summer Game Fest 2024. As mentioned at the beginning of the article, however, all that glitters is not gold.

According to FAQ recently updated on the official Alan Wake 2 website, you will need a additional download to install the full version of the game on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series
Additionally, the company said that the DLC Night Springs And Lake House will be available in the physical edition of the title but, even in this case, both will require an additional download.
In recent years, physical versions of many Triple-A titles have launched with incomplete copies of the games. Ubisoft, specifically, was one of the main protagonists of this trend.
The company in question, in fact, recently announced that the physical version of Star Wars Outlaws will require a download to install.
However, it must be underlined that downloads, patches and various updates are the order of the day for modern video games and those who love physical editions will most likely turn a blind eye to this choice by Remedy.
