Al-Wasl was crowned champion of the men’s table tennis league for the 2023-2024 season, by defeating Shabab Al-Ahly, the “runner-up,” 4-3 in the “marathon confrontation” that brought together the two teams, at the Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum Al Maktoum Hall in Al-Wasl Club.
Jassim Linjawi, the “Emperor” player, dedicated the title to his team, after defeating Salah Al-Din Abdul Hamid and Abdullah Al-Balushi, Shabab Al-Ahly players, in his two matches. This is Al-Wasl’s fourth league title, after the 2000-2001, 2002-2003, 2018-2019, and the current 2023-2024 seasons.
The ceremony of crowning Al-Wasl with the league title took place, in the presence of Ibrahim Al-Assam, Vice President of the Backgammon Federation, and Hassan Al-Zarouni, Secretary-General, where the “Emperor” players won gold medals and the league shield, while the “runner-up” Shabab Al-Ahly players won silver medals, and Al-Nasr “Third” won bronze medals.
The “Emperor” responded by being deservedly crowned with the men’s league title for the 2023-2024 season, taking precedence over Shabab Al-Ahly, which won the title in the last two seasons, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, at the expense of Al-Wasl, the “runner-up” in the two seasons. In the current season, the league witnessed the participation of 9 clubs, including: Al-Wasl, Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Nasr, Al-Sharjah, Al-Orouba, Al-Dhaid, Ajman, Al-Arabi, and Falaj Al-Mualla.
