Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, received an official invitation from Major General M. Ismail Al Gergawi, President of the Arab and Emirati Basketball Federations, to attend the activities of the Arab Championship for Basketball Teams scheduled to be held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, from December 26 to January 3 next.
This came during his reception at the Council’s headquarters in the presence of Abdul Latif Al Fardan, Vice President of the UAE Basketball Federation, Rashid Abdullah Al Naqbi, Director of the National Teams, Mohammed Obaid Al Hasan, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department, and Dr. Munir bin Al Habib, Technical Director of the Basketball Federation.
Al-Hazami praised the developments that occurred in the game and the efforts of Al-Gergawi locally and in the Arab world during his presidency, and welcomed the invitation he received to attend the Arab Championship in Cairo, which is considered one of the most prominent and important tournaments of the game regionally, and contributed greatly to the development of the Arab countries’ national teams.
For his part, Al Gergawi praised the efforts of the Sharjah Sports Council at the emirate and state levels in supporting and developing basketball, in addition to the efforts of the clubs in the emirate, which include all age levels of the game, and ensured the qualification of the largest percentage of players for the national teams, stressing that Al-Hazami’s long experience in the field of the game. She contributed greatly to the success of the Council’s efforts to develop basketball in the emirate.
