The air defense system, presumably, worked in Evpatoria. This was announced on August 19 by the adviser to the head of the Crimea on information policy Oleg Kryuchkov in the Telegram channel.
“In Evpatoria, presumably, the air defense system worked. Crimea is under reliable protection,” he wrote.
The day before, Kryuchkov said that air defense systems had worked in Kerch. Then the adviser to the head of the republic noted that there was no danger to the city and the bridge.
Politico magazine, citing a senior White House official, wrote on August 17 that Washington had allowed the Ukrainian army to use American weapons to attack Crimea. On August 19, Kryuchkov said that one should not jump to conclusions about information about such a permit, and stressed that any attempt at aggression would hit with a “boomerang”.
Before that, on August 16, a fire broke out on the territory of a temporary military depot in the Dzhankoysky district of Crimea, followed by the detonation of ammunition stored there.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the cause of the incident was sabotage. As a result, power lines, a power plant, and a number of residential buildings were damaged. A state of emergency has been declared in the area. Investigators opened a criminal case.
