The Minister of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of Cantabria, María Jesús Susinoshas met with the mayor of Selaya, Cándido Manuel Cobofor analyze the situation of the municipality’s rural roads and be able to promote their maintenance and conditioningdue to the importance for the development of its activities and the improvement of the quality of life of the neighbors. At the meeting, they also discussed the incidence of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease in the areaand the councilor has thanked the Government for the “effort” to provide the vaccine to all farmers and the costs of its application, treatment or deaths of the animals.
In this regard, Cobo has congratulated Susinos because, “although Entrambasaguas has lost a great mayor and Parliament a great parliamentarian, Cantabria has gained a great councilor”, who has listened to the priorities of the mayor of a municipality with nearly 300 kilometers of slopes, which need help for their maintenancethe Executive informs in a press release. Specifically, Cobo has presented to the Ministry a project to repair 2 kilometers of track on the road that goes from Peligros to Collado, which requires concreting for the daily passage of tractors.
The head of the department has shown her willingness to study the possibility of improve these roads, to “guarantee that livestock and agricultural activities can be developed in the best possible conditions so that they continue to contribute to the development of rural areas”. Finally, the mayor thanked the “speed” with which the Ministry has provided the 3 million in aid to livestock farmers to “alleviate the bad economic moment they are experiencing”, due to the change in the CAP, inflation, the increase in product prices and emerging diseases.
