“We call on all parties concerned to establish a ceasefire through dialogue and consultation, and find a solution that takes into account the legitimate security concerns of all parties as soon as possible,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wan Wenbin said at his regular press conference.
The spokesman said China stresses that “all countries should respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity, adhere to the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter, take seriously the legitimate concerns of all countries, and support all efforts to find a peaceful solution to the crises.”
“China calls on relevant countries to resolve their differences through dialogue and consultation, and expresses its willingness to work with the international community to continue playing a constructive role in containing the escalation,” he added.
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial general military mobilization in Russia, to start from today, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, where the Russian army recently suffered heavy losses.
And Putin added in a speech directed to the Russian people: “Today we are facing the Ukrainian forces and the major machine of NATO, and therefore a decision must be taken to protect our land, our homeland and our sovereignty.”
He continued, “The enlisted Russian citizens will receive special status and military privileges.”
“It became clear that the West did not like a peaceful solution, as Kyiv got its support to undermine our peaceful proposals,” the Russian president added.
Putin’s announcement comes after what the Ukrainian field witnessed during the last period of remarkable progress of the Ukrainian forces backed by the West on the ground at the expense of the Russians.
