The Abanca Week organizes with the support of nautical sports and cultural institutions of the Vigo estuary, for this Saturday the Bouzas-Rande Nautical Voyage, in commemoration of a great naval battle that took place in the month of October in the distant year of 1702 in the that the British and Dutch armies faced each other on the one hand and the Spanish and French on the other, defending the great treasure that arrived in the Vigo estuary from the West Indies.
Led by the vice dean of Galician nautical, from the Liceo Marítimo de Bouzas: the Traslatio Foundation, the Hermérico Association, the Virazón Classic Boat Association, the Artesanal San Miguel de Bouzas, the Náutico de San Adrián de Cobres, the Marítimo de Vigo, Marinetea, the Rande Sports Association, the Sueste de Moaña Association, as well as the Tirán Sports Society… at the stroke of ten in the morning from the Bouzas cove to the honk of the president of the Liceo, the rowing Olympian Miguel Pereira… the artisanal boats will be the first to begin the route along the entire Vigo estuary, which will take them to the Rande Strait itself. After that, the other boats will depart, including several fixed-bank rowers. The large fleet is scheduled to begin arriving in Rande, around one in the afternoon.
