Apple may launch a new calculator app for Mac very soon with three modes and a revamped look.
We know that during the highly anticipated WWDC in June, Apple will unveil a series of software improvements.
The main course will be iOS 18which promises to stand out for its advanced generative artificial intelligence capabilities.
However, it seems that the company has not forgotten about macOS users, who in turn may enjoy new features with upcoming updates.
As reported by AppleInsider, during the annual conference Apple could present a new version of the Calculator app, available on both iOS 18 and macOS 15, also offering the possibility of managing more complex mathematical operations.
It should be noted that the last major change to Calculator on macOS dates back to Yosemite in 2014.
Scientific version
The next iteration of the Calculator app will have three modes of use: Basic, Scientific and Programmer.
This version will be subject to a complete overhaul and a new design which will include numerous improvements compared to its current state.
The current boxes will be replaced by round buttons, following the style of iOS and the typical Apple design.
An updated unit conversion system will be introduced, along with the ability to convert currencies based on market trends.
Furthermore, a new feature will be introduced: the history tapewhich will allow you to view previous operations, a feature already present in competitors such as OneNote.
Even when using scientific or programming modes, you will be able to access previous calculations, although the number of calculations that will be stored has not been specified.
Dressed again
These new design choices, and more, seem to reflect a shrewd approach by Apple to make the experience with its apps more intuitive and pleasant.
This could also underline the company's commitment to revamping its applications, as seen with the new iOS 18 home screen.
There is also hope that Apple will include the Calculator app in the update iPadOS 18considering the iPad's productive role and its large screen size.
The presentation of iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 will take place at WWDC on June 10, but it is highly likely that we can expect further announcements.
