Africa 7 days – ECOWAS lifts economic sanctions imposed on Mali

Meeting in Accra, the capital of Ghana, the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) agreed to the immediate lifting of the economic sanctions imposed on Mali. The decision was taken in response to promises by the Malian Junta to organize elections within 24 months. ECOWAS also expressed its support for Burkina Faso’s commitment to restore constitutional order within two years.
