The Mixed Group-Adelante Andalucía will ask the Parliament of Andalusia about the decision of the Andalusian Government to have granted aid of 2.5 million euros of European funds to the online television channel OneToro TV, an incentive that it has presented as “the first case that we are going to uncover in a series of scandals involving the use of European funds” and regret that “that is the Andalusian model of the PP.”
The aid is an incentive from the Andalusian Innovation and Development Agency (IDEA), an organization attached to the Ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds, as its spokesperson explained at a press conference. José Ignacio García. The Andalusian Government called Adelante’s arguments “inaccuracies” about the “granting of financial incentives to startups with European funds” and called on “the opposition to stop fabricating ‘fake’ scandals.”
The Ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds assured: “In the case referred to this morning by a parliamentary spokesperson, it must be made clear that it is not about aid, but rather repayable loans made to companies through their venture capital funds and chosen by the European Investment Bank”.
“Since Juanma Moreno arrived at the Junta de Andalucía, the eligibility of companies that opt for financial instruments is not adopted with political criteria, but merely technical ones. In the case of these incentives, they are carried out through the European Investment Bank (EIB) and three managers (Axon, Quadriga and Alter)”, added the Andalusian Government.
The Adelante spokesperson contrasted the granting of aid with the accounting data of this online channel for bullfighting broadcasts to show that “it presents 12 million euros in losses” in the last two years, as well as that it has decided to “suspend its broadcasts because it has no subscribers” to conclude from this analysis that “it is a beach bar” that is in the hands of “a vulture fund that has its headquarters in Madrid” and is dedicated to “retransmitting animal torture.”
The spokesperson for Adelante Andalucía has warned that these 2.5 million are the cost of “a health center in rural areas” or an Early Childhood and Primary Education Center.
“Bullfighting bars”
“We are going to ask for explanations in parliament, to ask questions, we want light and stenographers on what European funds are being spent on,” he continued arguing. Garciawho has indicated as recipients “the friends of the PP” within a commitment of the autonomous Administration to “maintain certain pseudomedia“.
Regarding a possible reimbursement of this aid by the Andalusian Government, the Adelante spokesperson has expressed that “We will be vigilant that this company has used the money in what it had to be used for.“with the argument that “European funds are not there for that, they are not there to pay for PP bullfighting bars.”
García has complained that this company is owned by a Venture Capital Fund that “does not have a single worker in Andalusia”before considering the destination of those funds that “we have to believe have been dedicated to bullfighting emissions”, and reaffirming the argument of “If we have to spend European funds on beach bars that broadcast bullfights” and to announce that “we are going to uncover these beach bars.”
The Andalusian Government responded to Adelante’s accusations that the “funds are granted to companies that cannot find financing through other mechanisms as they are mainly startups. These are loans that will return on December 31, 2029 at the latest.”
“32.7 million euros have been contributed to companies that have been able to launch 37 business projects and have made it possible to move the corporate headquarters of eight companies to Andalusia. The investment generated by these projects exceeds 71 million euros,” added the Treasury Department. The Government of the Junta added that through the loan mechanism “37 Andalusian companies have benefited.”
