Israeli singer-songwriter and actor Idan Amedi, known internationally for his performance in the TV series Fauda, was seriously injured while fighting as a reservist in the Gaza Strip.
The man, 35 years old, married, father of two children, was transported to the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, where he underwent emergency surgery. According to the information coming from Israeli mediahis life is not in danger.
In the series Fauda, which is available on Netflix in Italy, Amedi plays the role of a soldier in the army of the Jewish state: Sagi Tzur, this is the name of his character, operates in an elite unit of the IDF in the areas Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In real life he is instead a reservist in the combat engineering corps.
Shortly before being wounded, the military artist had been interviewed in Gaza by an Israeli television journalist, to whom he had told that he was “a little tired” but that he was “fine”. “We are working hard for everyone's safety,” he said, looking straight at the camera.
Amedi had also launched a critical message towards those in Israel who are criticizing the hard line of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who after the Hamas raid on 7 October led Israeli forces to attack Gaza, causing at least 20 thousand civilian deaths so far among the Palestinians.
“I join my reservist brothers in asking politicians, all the media and everyone: whoever doesn't have something good to say, shut your mouth. The people of Israel live,” the actor said in the video interview.
On October 12, after more than 300,000 reservists were called to arms, Amedi posted a video on X wearing military fatigues and stating: “This is not a scene from Fauda, it's real life.”

One of his most famous songs, titled “Warrior's Pain,” describes the post-traumatic experience of a soldier returning from war. The song quickly climbed the charts in 2010, after Amedi sang it on the Israeli TV show “Kochav Nolad.” Last October Amedi was also filmed singing for IDF troops in Ma'alot.
