The acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft continues e Phil Spencer talked to Bloomberg about it. In the midst of the statements from the Xbox boss, we also find some comments regarding the willingness of many Activision and Blizzard employees to create their own trade union.
If Microsoft were to get the green light for the acquisition, it would not only get access to products like Call of Duty and Candy Crush, but would also “inherit” the allegations of sexism, harassment and the fact that female employees are paid less than men. Activision said it is trying to fix these issues, and Phil Spencer said Microsoft looked into Activision’s plans in this regard before accepting the deal in January.
“I think they are doing this,” he said Spencer during the interview. “When I look at the work they are doing now [penso che] more and more can be done but I believe the studio leaders, whom I know very well, some of them former Xbox members, are on this journey. And I appreciate it regardless of the agreement. ”
Whereas some Activision employees who are forming a trade union, Microsoft said in June that it will work with working groups when a specific union proposal is presented to it. Spencer stressed that she has never had an experience like this, but she felt it was important to make such a statement.
“I have never run an organization where there are trade unions, but what I can say when working on this issue is that we recognize the need for workers to feel safe, listened to and compensated fairly in order to do a great job”, he has declared. “We definitely see the need for support workers in the results they want to achieve “.
We also know that Phil Spencer has “good feelings” on the progress of the acquisition.
