La Aljorra, Mompeán and Valle de Escombreras present levels slightly above 50 micrograms of PM10 particles
The General Directorate of the Environment of the Autonomous Community informed the Cartagena City Council of the activation of Level 1 (Preventive) due to suspended particles at the La Aljorra, Valle de Escombreras and Mompeán stations.
This activation occurred after the daily average of this Tuesday in said stations slightly exceeded 50 micrograms of PM10 particles per cubic meter of air, according to municipal sources in a statement.
Specifically, 50 micrograms per cubic meter were recorded at La Aljorra station, 53 micrograms per cubic meter at Valle and 50 micrograms per cubic meter at Mompeán. Other areas close to the previous ones were below these levels since, for example, that of Alumbres recorded 29 micrograms per cubic meter.
These values coincide with the intrusion of air masses of African origin over the Iberian Peninsula that occurred this past Tuesday. For this Wednesday, the presence of this phenomenon is expected to continue, which can cause concentrations of particles, but to a lesser extent, since it has been affecting the peninsular southeast since September 11, estimating concentrations in the ranges of 10-20 micrograms per cubic meter.
