In a recent announcement in Dubai, Acer outlined its commitment to the environment through its Aspire Vero notebook line, with a focus on the new Aspire Vero 16 model (AV16-51P). The company has set a goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero for this product line, adhering to international standards for carbon footprint assessment and emissions neutrality. This process involves taking eco-friendly measures at all stages of the device’s life cycle and using high-quality carbon credits to offset any remaining emissions. Jerry Kao, COO of Acer Inc., highlighted the importance of addressing the challenges of climate change through conscious technology. He also revealed Acer’s commitment to the RE100 initiative and the company’s commitment to using exclusively renewable energy by 2035, with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The Aspire Vero 16 model stands out for several ecological features: the use of recycled plastic for over 60% of the chassis, the use of efficient Intel Core Ultra processors, fully recyclable packaging, collaboration with logistics service providers for the use of biofuels in shipping, software for efficient battery management and ease of disassembly for repair or recycling. After minimizing carbon emissions, Acer will offset the remaining ones through the purchase of carbon credits. More details on the Aspire Vero 16 product will be revealed in January in Las Vegas, with variations in specs, pricing and availability depending on regions.
