According to the known leaker Midoriuntil now considered quite reliable, Ace Combat 8 it could be the new large-caliber project from Bandai Namcowithout however adding many details to the matter.
On the one hand, this would at least mention a new chapter in the series of aerial simulations/shooters by the Japanese company, which has been missing from the scene for some years, but on the other hand it also tells us that the publisher intends to make it a large-caliber title, therefore at the center of an important production, which in itself is not to be taken for granted.
Although it is a historical series for Namco first and Bandai Namco then, Ace Combat does not exactly have the characteristics of a blockbuster for the publisher, but evidently this could continue with a project of considerable size.
A partnership between two teams
In fact, the first information on Ace Combat 8 had emerged already in 2022, or at least a new chapter in the series that does not yet have an official name: at the time it emerged as a collaborative project between two divisions of Bandai Namco, but the issue may have evolved in the meantime.
The latest news spoke of a collaboration between the ILCA team, involved in both One Piece Odyssey and the new Ace Combat, and ORCA, a related company whose CEO has been working on the aerial series in question practically since the first chapter.
Now that One Piece Odyssey is out, it’s likely that development has fully focused on Ace Combat 8 and that the time has come to see it in action, perhaps in the next few months between summer events and Tokyo Game Show 2024.
“Bandai Namco’s next large-scale game is the Chronicle project, in development with the support from ILCA and ORCA“, wrote Midori, in response to those who said that there is probably no news coming regarding Tales of from Bandai Namco. “I think it is Ace Combat 8”, she then added, confirming the previous rumors about the partnership between the two teams in this regard.
