Accused of murder after a quarrel in a parent chat addressed the court in verse

Arsen Melkonyan, accused of murdering a Volgograd resident after a quarrel in a parent chat, addressed the court in verse during the debate; at the same meeting, the representative of the injured party asked the court not to take into account the circumstances that could somehow mitigate the punishment, and give the defendant 15 years, and his relatives – terms of 15 and 12 years in prison. This was reported to Lente.ru on Tuesday, March 1, by the Joint Press Service of the Courts of the Volgograd Region.

According to the court, Arsen Melkonyan asked to reclassify the crime from the article “Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death” to “Causing death by negligence” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This is a less serious article, and according to it the punishment is up to two years in prison, while according to the sane – up to 15 years. At some point in his last word, the man switched to poetic form:

“I admit my guilt / But not in the murder, but in the beatings. / I defended my family / I stand as a mountain for the honor of my family. / From time immemorial, we have all been taught / Like, we are the defenders of the family / Accidentally caused the death of Roma / And turned it into terrorism. / … I stopped believing in legality. / Around the mess and lawlessness. / People are judged by resonance / The law of my country is alien to them.

Earlier it was reported that in October 2021, parents could not agree on the date of the test at their children’s school. Then a relative of Anna, the instigator of the conflict, ambushed her opponent and called him to a conversation “like a man”, during which he hit him on the head with brass knuckles. A week later, the victim died in the hospital without regaining consciousness. Already at the investigation, a friend of the deceased spoke about his last words.
