Abuse of office and proposed repeal, EU: “Risks of hindering the interception of corruption cases”
“We are aware of the draft of the Italian law which proposes some changes to the rules which regulate violations against the public administration. These proposed changes would decriminalize important forms of corruption and could have an impact on the effective ability to intercept corruption cases. The legislative process is ongoing and we will continue to follow developments”. spokesperson of the European Commission, Christian Wigand, in the daily press conference of the European executive responding to a question on the decriminalization of the crime of Abuse of office in Italy. “There Fighting corruption is a high priority for the European Commission.
