Abu Dhabi Customs wins first place in the project “Recycling, afforestation, refining”

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has achieved a qualitative achievement to be added to its records of distinguished achievements in the social responsibility sector, by obtaining first place in the “recycling, afforestation, refining” project in the paper category for the month of July at the level of private and public institutions in the country, which was launched by the Emirates Environmental Group to celebrate On the International Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.
Abu Dhabi Customs’ achievement came after its success in collecting 16,660 kg of paper, the largest amount of paper collected since the launch of the project in 2016, which contributed to reducing 84 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and saving 484 million British thermal units of energy and 68 cubic meters of landfill space, and protect 367 trees from cutting, thus Abu Dhabi Customs becomes eligible to plant 21 local seedlings in its name under the umbrella of the “For Our Emirate We Plant” program on 22.12.22, which contributes to effectively reducing the impact of desertification in the UAE United States and mitigate the severity of the climate.
This year, the “Recycling, Reforestation, Refining” project achieved a total of 279,932 kg of paper collected for recycling from 103 participants, which resulted in the mitigation of 1,083 metric tons of carbon dioxide, and the saving of 6 million and 284,000 British thermal units from Energy, 884 cubic meters of landfill space, and saving 4,759 trees from cutting.
Abu Dhabi Customs had won second place in the “recycling, afforestation, refining” project in the paper category for the month of June at the level of private and public institutions in the country, where the administration collected 4,930 kg of paper, which contributed to reducing 19 metric tons of gas emissions. Carbon dioxide saved 110 million British thermal units of energy and 15 cubic meters of landfill space, and protected 84 trees from being cut down. Thus, Abu Dhabi Customs became eligible to plant 4 local seedlings under its name on 22.12.2022.
