Abu Dhabi City Municipality organizes the “Waste Collection Championship”

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through the Shahama Municipality Center and within the “My City is More Beautiful” initiative, in “Park 9 in Yas Bay Waterfront, Waterfront,” implemented a tournament and event targeting waste collection under the slogan “Shahama for Sustainability.” This tournament is the first of its kind regionally, and targets… Motivating partners and the community to contribute to cleaning the environment, improving the public appearance, protecting the health of the community, and achieving sustainability standards.

The municipality organized this cultural environmental tournament in cooperation with its partners: the Friends of the Environment Association, the Abu Dhabi Police General Command, volunteer teams, and people of determination. This event is implemented in an unusual and unconventional manner, and reflects the slogan “Together for Abu Dhabi,” and aims to protect the environment and preserve the appearance of… city, achieving a waste-free environment.

The municipality explained that through the event, the first tournament was organized at the level of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality and the sub-municipal centers under the slogan “Chivalry for Sustainability.” The tournament was a competition for collecting recyclable waste, as teams consisting of all segments of society toured the areas and sub-streets, searching for waste. To collect them, ten or more teams competed. The event also included raising awareness among all segments of society about protecting the environment, preserving the city’s appearance, and applying sustainability standards. The competing teams were divided into the following categories: Individuals category, Family category, Entities category, and People of Determination category. At the conclusion of the tournament, the Director of the Shahama Municipality Center, Hamid Rashid Al-Darai, honored the winning and distinguished teams, as well as the strategic partners and participating groups, as an expression of thanks and appreciation from the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, for their effective role in making the tournament a success.
