Some 70 fennel ranchers (Huelva) have mobilized this Saturday for the evacuation of 600 heads of cattle that graze in the Galician marsh, better known as La Marisma de Hinojos, inside the Doñana National Park and that have had to be transferred by the floods caused by the rains of recent days, something that did not happen since 2009.
As transferred by the City of Hinojos in statements to Europa Press, at 07:00 hours on this Saturday the farmers of cows and mares in the area have been summoned to make the transfer to the farm of ‘El Moralejo’, an area of mount that also belongs to the municipality of the town. Thus, they have valued “the good reception and coordination of the group in charge of the transfer.”
The farmers travel until last time about 40 kilometers, in the case of an “arduous work” that entails “the effort of teamwork, due to the danger caused by the flooding marsh.” A team coordinated by José María de Vayas, a retired livestock of Hinojos, who also held the position of general coordinator of the Natural Space of Doñana “who knows these lands as the palm of her hand.”
From the Consistory they have valued that “the times are being fulfilled”, it is a “very hard” path and for which an alternative route of about 40 kilometers has had to be taken because “there was a lot of water”, the first 20 kilometers have been carried out inside the marsh and the remaining 20 on roads.
