About 200 Espanyol fans gathered yesterday afternoon in front of the Chinese consulate in Barcelona to demonstrate their discontent with the club’s ownership, Chen Yansheng and Rastar Group, and its management. The demonstration was promoted anonymously through social networks, emails and messages to mobile phones under the premise “enough of the outrages and humiliations to the members and fans of RCD Espanyol by the ownership and its directors.”
This peaceful protest action arises from the discontent of fans after two relegations in four years and a worrying current sporting situation, with the team sunk in the standings after seven defeats in the last eight games.
The consignments
“Directive resignation”, “Chen leave now”, “tell them to leave” and “Mao resignation”
Dressed in scarves, posters, banners and a megaphone, the main slogans of the protesters were “leadership resignation”, “Chen leave now”, “tell them to leave” and “Mao resign”, among others. Among the protesters was Arnau Baqué, president of Espanyol’s sports sections, and many dissatisfied supporters of all ages.
The location chosen for this rally, in front of the Chinese consulate, was not coincidental, since the intention of the organizers was to achieve greater resonance in the eastern country. In February of this same year, another symbolic protest had already taken place in front of the Chinese consulate with a banner pointing to the leadership.
