An official source in the General Secretariat of the League stated that the crisis, which was caused by previous statements by the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, and the subsequent events and positions, should have been dealt with by a Lebanese in a way that defuses it, and does not stoke its fire in the way that happened, and led matters to a major setback in relations Lebanon with its Arab surroundings in general and the Gulf in particular.
The source added that the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States “has confidence in the wisdom and ability of Presidents Michel Aoun and Najib Mikati to seek quickly in order to take the necessary steps that can put an end to the deterioration of those relations, and contribute to calming the atmosphere and healing the rift caused by the positions of willing parties that have an interest.” In dismantling the naked brotherhood that binds Lebanon and its Arab people to its brothers in the Gulf and Arab countries.
Aboul Gheit appealed to officials in the Gulf states to “manage the measures proposed to be taken in the midst of that situation in order to avoid further negative effects on the collapsing Lebanese economy and the citizen who is living in extremely difficult conditions.”
On Friday, the Lebanese Prime Minister asked Qardahi to assess the national interest and take the appropriate decision to reform Lebanon’s relations with the Arab countries.
Mikati contacted Qirdahi after consulting with the Lebanese president, against the background of the crisis of statements made by the Minister of Information earlier.
Mikati also asked the Lebanese Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bouhabib, to “remain in Beirut and not to join the Lebanese delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference” in Scotland, in order to “keep abreast of recent developments and developments and establish a cell to manage this emerging crisis in Lebanon.”
