H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Yair Lapid, Prime Minister of the State of Israel.
During the meeting, which was held within the framework of His Highness’s official visit to Israel, bilateral relations between the two countries and joint cooperation in light of the Abrahamic Peace Agreement signed in 2020 were discussed.
His Highness and the Israeli Prime Minister discussed issues of common interest, regional and international developments, and ways to enhance efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the relations between the UAE and the State of Israel are moving forward towards broader horizons of joint cooperation in all fields.
For his part, HE Yair Lapid welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation to the State of Israel, praising the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries.
After the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said: “His Excellency, the Prime Minister, about two years ago, I was honored to be part of our joint declaration by signing the Abrahamic Peace Agreement between our two countries by representing my beloved country, the United Arab Emirates.”
His Highness added, “I am sure that I am not alone, but many of those who attended the signing ceremony of the Abrahamic Peace Agreement in Washington in the United States of America, did not expect at the time that we would meet after two years with His Excellency the Israeli Prime Minister to celebrate together today two years since the start of distinguished and warm bilateral relations. not only between the two states, but between the two peoples as well.”
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan pointed out in this regard that about half a million Israelis visited the UAE during the past two years, adding that there are about 7 to 8 flights per day between the two countries.
His Highness said that there is a continuous growth in the volume of trade exchange between the UAE and the State of Israel, expressing his belief that the free trade agreement signed between the two countries may be the fastest free trade agreement signed by Israel.
His Highness added, “I look forward to the continuation of our bilateral relationship at a distinguished and warm pace, and for the Emirati and Israeli citizens to reap the fruits of this relationship and feel happy in order to spread a message of hope that our region needs for a long time.”
For his part, Yair Lapid, Prime Minister of the State of Israel, welcomed in his speech the visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation.
“We celebrate today the visit of a strategic partner to our country,” he said, stressing that this historic visit will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels.
He pointed out that bilateral cooperation between the two countries is witnessing a steady growth, and the UAE and the State of Israel have signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, and we are moving forward towards strengthening our relationship to achieve prosperity and sustainable development for our two peoples.
The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, Omar Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Cultural and Public Diplomacy, and Mohammed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to the State of Israel.
