The early morning of this Tuesday, a small aircraft that moved between towns of the Honduran Caribbean has rising at sea, near the island of Roatán. The death figure amounts to 12. 15 passengers and two pilots were traveling on the plane, EFE reports.
“The plane crash in Roatán unfortunately leaves 12 dead people, 5 alive and a missing at this time of the night,” said the Fire Department in the social network X.
The institution does not require details of the missing person, one of the 17 that the company made up the National Airlines of Honduras Sociedad Anónima (LANHSA), owner of the plane, and the Directorate of Civil Aeronautics.
Among the deceased is the singer -songwriter Aurelio Martínez Suazofrom the Garifuna (black) ethnicity, nationalized American, and the French citizen HELEN ODILE GUIBARone of the three survivors who were sent to a hospital in San Pedro Sula (North), the second most important city in Honduras.
The director of the Public Hospital of Roatán, Ruth Cachoconfirmed the death of Martínez Suazo, also former deputy of the Honduran Parliament for the opposition Liberal Party.

The injured plane, a Jetstream 32, with HR-AYW registration, took off from the Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport, of Roatán, destined for the city of La Ceiba, department of Atlántida, also in the Honduran Caribbean, around 18:15 local hours (00:15 GMT), where it had to land about fifteen minutes later, at the Guillermo Anderson International Airport Civil Aeronautics.
A minute after taking off, the device turned and fell into the sea, said the same government source.
The aircraft pilots were identified by the LANHSA company as Luis Araya and Francisco Lagos.
The causes of the accident accident are unknown, which is submerged about 50 meters deep, according to various sources.
