Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, the first specialized children’s hospital in the UAE, affiliated with Dubai Health, succeeded in saving the life of the citizen child, Saeed Khamis Al Shamsi, who was suffering from chronic kidney failure, through a kidney transplant, coinciding with his third birthday, making him the youngest citizen child. Such an operation is being performed in Dubai.
The hospital explained to “Emirates Today” that the child's kidney failure was discovered before his birth, and continued with him after birth, as this required dialysis three to four times a week, at a rate of four and a half hours for each session, until his condition required an urgent kidney transplant.
After obtaining a kidney from a deceased donor, and confirming the complete matching of the tissues, preparations were completed, and the medical team intervened to perform the operation, which was crowned with success, in a new achievement that is added to the “Dubai Health” record in providing the highest levels of health care to serve the patient and his family.
The child’s mother said: “We suffered greatly before the transplant operation, as we were forced to undergo dialysis operations on a regular and regular basis until we received a phone call from Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, coinciding with the celebration of his third birthday, to inform us of the date of the operation, and the joy turned into two joys in that. the time. Despite the great anxiety and fears that gripped us, the medical staff reassured us, in addition to the attention and care they provided at all times.”
She added: “Saeed, praise be to God, has regained his health and is now able to carry out his daily activities normally. Therefore, we cannot give the Al Jalila Children’s Hospital team and the Dubai Health team their due thanks and appreciation for the care, attention and constant follow-up they have provided.”
