A 73-year-old resident of Yakutsk almost lost her home after trusting scammers
A 73-year-old resident of Yakutsk voluntarily gave more than 8.5 million rubles to scammers. The scam, which ended with the capture of the criminals, is reported by press service Prosecutor's Office of Yakutia.
The attackers contacted the pensioner by phone, posing as bank employees. The victim was told that they were allegedly trying to get several loans in her name. According to them, her only apartment was also under threat. You can protect your property from other people’s attacks by fictitiously selling your home, the schemers hastened to reassure her. The proceeds from the transaction had to be transferred to a “safe account”. The woman trusted her interlocutors.

Realizing that she had been deceived, the pensioner contacted the police. A criminal case was opened for fraud on a particularly large scale. To date, three suspects have been identified, from whom more than 815 thousand rubles were confiscated. Through the efforts of the prosecutor's office, the pensioner managed to return her living space – the purchase and sale agreement was declared invalid.
Earlier, a resident of St. Petersburg fell for scammers. An elderly St. Petersburg woman, following the instructions, got rid of the apartment and handed the money received from the sale to a courier wearing a medical mask.
