Protests for the release of hostages are taking place in Tel Aviv. One of the protesters told Izvestia on October 14 that she was against Israel’s operation in the Gaza Strip.
“I am here today to call on my Israeli people not to attack other nations or Hamas. Because such an invasion is useless. It will only help destroy a huge number of hostages. It will continue and repeat again, again and again,” said the protest participant.
The woman also questioned the decisions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that his interests overlap with the interests of the Palestinian Hamas movement. The protester expressed the opinion that the current Prime Minister must resign.
Earlier in the day, the Axios portal, citing two diplomatic sources, reported that Iran sent a message to Israel in which it emphasized its reluctance to further escalate the conflict between the Palestinian Hamas movement and the Jewish state, but the Iranian side would be forced to intervene if the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip continues followed by a ground attack. The head of the Iranian foreign ministry noted that the republic also does not want a regional war and wants to help in the release of civilians held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Also on October 14, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Joe Biden, stated his opposition to the killing of civilians on both sides of the conflict around the Gaza Strip.
The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the militant wing of the Hamas movement, reported the death of nine hostages as a result of Israeli shelling. The day before, the militant wing of the Hamas movement, Izz ed-Din al-Qassam, announced that 13 hostages had died, including foreigners.
Earlier, on October 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it is necessary to think about the civilian population when resolving the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The Russian leader noted that not everyone in the Gaza Strip supports the Palestinian Hamas movement, while everyone, including women and children, suffers from the attacks.
On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian Hamas movement subjected Israeli territory to massive rocket fire from the Gaza Strip and also invaded the border areas in the south of the country. That same day, Israel began retaliating against targets in the Gaza Strip and later declared war and launched Operation Iron Swords.
Palestinians are seeking to return the border between the two countries to the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War. Palestine wants to create its own state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and make East Jerusalem its capital. Israel refuses to return to the 1967 borders and divide Jerusalem.
