The death of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamashas been one of the news of the week. The bloodthirsty Islamist, mastermind of the 7-O massacre against thousands of Israelis, including women and children, was eliminated by the Hebrew army in Rafah, Gaza.
Sinwar’s last moments, recorded by a drone, showed him hiding in a semi-ruined building, from where he did not emerge alive. But this property, before the war, belonged to a person.
Ashraf Abo Taha is a Palestinian who, in statements to the BBCrevealed that when he saw the images of Sinwar’s death he was surprised to see that it occurred in his home.
Taha said he was “shocked” when identifying the building partially destroyed in images of the incident. This man had left his home in Rafah heading to Khan Younis on May 6, when Israel ordered evacuations and began an operation against Hamas terrorists, and until now he had not received news from his home.
Abo Taha said that his daughter showed him for the first time on social networks the images that supposedly captured Sinwar’s last moments and showed his home in Rafah. At first he didn’t believe him, he said, until his brother confirmed that the house was indeed his.
“I thought ‘yes, this is my house’ and I saw the photos and I was shocked,” Abo Taha told the BBC. The Palestinian added that he had no idea why Sinwar was there or how he got there.
“Never, ever, neither I nor my brothers nor my children “We had nothing to do with this.”he stated.
Abo Taha said he had built his house in Rafah himself with the help of his brothers. It had cost him some 200,000 shekels (50,000 euros) and that it was in good condition when it left.
